Oddly enough, I have to give it to Of Mice & Men by John Steinbeck. I was literally not expecting that to happen and I definitely cried!

I usually love V.E. Schwab's books so Vicious by her! I still haven't read it but I have Venegeful pre-ordered (lol i obviously stan) so I need to get to it soon.
3. why did it have to be me: name a book you went to to get over a reading slump
I actually ended up reading Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor when I was in a really bad slump and it definitely got me into reading again. Her writing always blows me away. I cannot wait for Muse of Nightmares!
4. i have a dream: name a book character that inspires you

This isn't a book character but it's an author! I love Roxane Gay and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. They're both such strong and inspiring women! 5. andante andante: name your current read

The Diviners by Libba Bray... I feel like this is a common answer but I know that I'd love it if I just gave it a chance. I started it not too long ago and it was great but boy that thing is big!

people have been working on my roof all day so i've been out with Romeo because he was terrified of the sounds. They started at 6am this morning so we got out pretty early. We went to breakfast at my favorite coffee shop Urban Bean, went for a walk in the park, the pet store to get him some bones, the bookstore and then Starbucks for his good 'ole pup cup! I posted a picture on my instagram story so if you want to see him devour a small cup of whip cream, feel free to look. I've been listening to Bossy Pants by Tina Fey all day on audiobook and enjoying it more as it goes on. Later in the day, I decided to get ice cream with some friends but that's about it. I'm exhausted from being out all morning and waking up at 6am. It was lovely to wake up so early and be able to take a walk near the water at the park. I might have to do it more often! Speaking of lovely things, I also received an email about an exciting review I'll have posted in September so stay tuned for that. All is good. I'll be on my way to go to sleep soon and listen to my audiobook for the rest of the night.

DAILY UPDATE ➳ i thrifted a really rare Miss Peregrines copy!

I've noticed that all of my daily update posts are written after 9pm and posted around 10pm at night. Oops. Anyway, good evening! I hope you all had a good day. Yesterday, I worked on a bunch of blog and instagram stuff so I hope you're enjoying it so far. If not, be sure to check out my instagram to see what I've been up to. 

I didn't do much work today because I was tired and didn't get a head start this morning. I ended up going to Goodwill and I thrifted a bunch of cute stuff for my closet. I also found an incredibly rare copy of Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children which I'll be showing on my instagram later this week. It's the National Book Day copy that they made only ten copies of for an event. Somehow, it ended up in my local Goodwill and I immediately grabbed it. It was so cool to find but I feel like someone who loves the series deserves to have it more. I might end up giving it away, who knows. As for right now, I'm just chilling in my silk pajamas I got from my grandma and listening to french music. If you didn't know, I'm currently learning french because it's the second language to the country I call my second home. 🇨🇦

My reading has consisted of two books today: Bossy Pants by Tina Fey and The Hating Game by Sally Thorne. I think listening to The Hating Game is kinda strange and I might drop the audiobook for the ebook or physical copy but who knows. I'll settle for what I've got for now. I plan to just hang out on Tumblr and Instagram for the rest of the night while listening to an Audiobook or french music. I hope whatever you're planning to do is just as relaxing.

Books Recommendations Based on Your Favorite Tea

• Chai Tea

Whenever I thought of a book I could compare to chai tea, I immediately thought of A Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee. For what reasons? I’m not quite sure. But trust me, you’ll love it.

• Green Tea

Green tea is so good for you. You know what’s also good for you? Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor. You can’t go wrong with Green tea or Laini Taylor.

• Chamomile Tea

Ah, the tea I drink to fall asleep. I’ll recommend you a great book to read before bed! We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. It’s short and so impactful!

• Black Tea

A staple full of energy! For this one, Warcross by Marie Lu is the perfect match! You’ll read it all in one sitting because it’s so fast-paced and so interesting.

• Oolong Tea

A boost! Read Renegades by Marissa Meyer for the same feeling.

• Pumpkin Spice Tea

Considering this is one of my favorite tea to drink, I’m going to recommend you something warm but important like this tea. You should read They Both Die in the End by Adam Silvera.

• White Tea

Not gonna lie, white tea is pretty basic. So, I’m going to give you a staple (and fav!) but basic read. Read The Fault in Our Stars by John Green!

good evening! i spent a lot of my time today cleaning and working on my blog and instagram. i was photoshopping templates, planning out blog ideas, etc. as much as i love blogging and writing, it's still work. it may be work i genuinely love but it doesn't change the fact it's a lot of work. from being creative with ideas and then putting them all together until i love them, it's a lot. i'm quite tired already from the cleaning i did previously but it's okay. i got a smoothie today which was lovely!

 i posted a bunch of my templates to instagram already. while i'm not in the home office anymore, i'm still working on instagram posts and blog posts. it's never ending. it was nice to separate myself from my usual space and work today though. if you visit my instagram today (@uponthepages), you can see all my work from earlier on my story. i'm going to work on posts tomorrow but other than that, i'm not doing much tonight. 

As for my reading, I'm still listening to Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard: Hammer of Thor but I also started another audiobook. I find it easier to relax and focus whenever i'm listening to nonfiction so I picked up Bossy Pants by Tina Fey. I'm enjoying it so far. :-)

The Name of the Wind is one hell of a ride. I feel like the iced caramel macchiato is a staple for a lot of people. This book is definitely a staple fantasy read.

It’s a refreshing read. It covers a heavy topic but shares it in an uplifting way. It wraps up wonderfully making your heart feel all warm. It’s one of the best.

You’ll understand once you read it. Trust me.

Dark Roast — The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

The Kite Runner is a book that’s hard to swallow so it made me think of black coffee. (This is coming from someone who orders tea at Starbucks.) It’s definitely a raw and difficult read but it’s worth it in the end.

Coffee Frappuccino — The Miseducation of Cameron Post by Emily M. Danforth 

Frappuccinos have many flavors and are preferred by everyone. This book has absolutely everything needed to make a perfect novel. Every ingredient is spread throughout it nicely and it has one of those endings - the kind of endings that leave you wishing you had more. It’s such a wonderful and important coming of age novel.

Cappuccino — Leave Me by Gayle Forman 

Leave Me is Gayle Forman’s new adult debut that shares a deep message within awe-inspiring aspects, making the story feel absolutely real.

Iced — Wonder by R.J. Palacio 

Iced Coffee is incredibly basic but also at high demand. Wonder is something everyone and anybody should read. It’s a book that’s always stuck with me. The message is shares is remarkable and a rule that everyone should follow. It’s about being kind.

Starbucks Doubleshot on Ice — Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

Red Queen had me rolling after I read it. I needed that sequel terribly! It’s fast-paced and full of magic and action. It has elements of several different books that we know and love - making it absolutely to die for.

today is my grandma’s birthday so i’ll be busy most of the day. right now, i’m going to goodwill & then the fresh market to get her a special dessert. 🍮 she's turning 93 this year! how insane is that? she is such a strong and interesting woman, i swear.               During the little birthday party, i got a call from Barnes & Noble as I recently applied there. It was a mess because 
1. I was not expecting it to happen at all.
2. I've never interviewed before and I'm pretty sure this was a short phone interview. 
3. I've never worked retail before and it was unexpected so I wasn't ready for the questions.
That being said, I really messed it up. The manager didn't initiate an interview but said some nice things. I wasn't sure on how to feel. Immediately after, I get an email saying I'm not qualified. I was more than let down considering I was at dinner so they all knew I was excited about getting the call (I've applied to 9 places now and no one has called). It was devastating and it made me thing about my anxiety all together but that's fine because it was my first ever getting a call from a company and I knew I wasn't exactly the best candidate in a working managers perspective. It still sucks, though. I kind of just want to spend a bunch of money on clothes from Madewell to make myself feel better but I don't have money. lol I love being a teenager in college. #fml

as someone who’s been blogging for years and just recently starting taking bookstagram seriously, being a rep would totally motivate me to step up my game. i have so many ideas for creative photos and would love to include these candles within them. ♡ a quick mention that any of these photos will probably be transferred over to my blog (uponthepages.com) as most of my instagram posts get transferred over as life updates. 

as for what i've done today, i've just been taking pictures for my blog + instagram. i went for a walk with my dog earlier and i'll probably read some more tonight. not a busy day!
