↠⠀𝚕𝚎𝚝'𝚜 𝚝𝚊𝚕𝚔⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I got my poesie perfume in the mail the other day and I am living! It came in the cutest wrapping with a Mary Shelley sticker that is already on my laptop lol. If you haven’t heard about poesie, it’s a perfume brand based on literary stuff! you’ve heard of bookish themed candles but what about perfume? 😍🍂

Let’s talk about scents I got!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
↠⠀Mary Shelley Collection: We Shall Be Monsters

“bitter almond + black licorice, graveyard dirt tinged with blood, the green bite of galbanum, forbidden manuscripts”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
↠⠀Mary Shelley Collection: Young Romantics (my fav)

”a voluptuous blend of dark fig preserves + lush, velvety red rose tinged with exotic spice, sultry resins. musk mallow, and vanilla bean”⠀

↠⠀Secret Boyfriend ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀”a mountain of light fluffy marshmallows, your secret boyfriend’s leather jacket, pine and cedar, a wisp of smoke”⠀

Check out Poesie Perfume here!

If you could create bookish anything, what would it be?

5 Books I Want to Read That Nobody Really Cares About

I got this idea from Ariel Bissett's videos where she just talks about books she wants to read. I'm aware that most people might not know these books but that's okay. I still want to read them.

  • The Wild Truth by Carine McCandless

Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer basically changed my life whenever I read it in high school. I loved the entire story despite it being non-fiction and I instantly became interested in Chris McCandless. This book was definitely more popular whenever it was released due to the conspiracies around Chris' death but it's still one of my favorites. The Wild Truth by Carine McCandless (his sister) is her take on the situation but also a memoir. I'm currently reading it through audiobook and I'm liking it so far!

  • Valley of the Dolls by Jacqueline Susann
I honestly love anything set in the 1960s and this book is one of the most recommended to me whenever I ask for 1960s books. Also, I have the prettiest edition of it with pink pages.

  • Not That Bad: Dispatches from Rape Culture edited Roxane Gay
I'll read any nonfiction that Roxane Gay writes. I think this was recently published but it's a bunch of short essays from many different people on rape culture.

  • Rough Magic: A Biography of Sylvia Plath by Paul Alexander
I wasn't a big fan of her poetry collection, Ariel, but I was genuinely intrigued in her diaries. I read the entire 800 page book of her unabridged journal and loved it. I like hearing about her life so this seems like a great way to read more about Sylvia Plath without putting myself through reading her poetry.

  • One Day We'll All Be Dead and None of This Will Matter by Scaachi Koul
This is a collection of essays about growing up the daughter of Indian immigrants in Canada. I haven't read very many Canadian authors (I am a dual citizen) so I thought I'd pick this one up. I found it through Ariel Bissett and I haven't yet seen it in any bookstores but whenever I do, I'll definitely pick it up!

DAILY UPDATE ➳ a day spent out and about

August 15th, 2018

people have been working on my roof all day so i've been out with Romeo because he was terrified of the sounds. They started at 6am this morning so we got out pretty early. We went to breakfast at my favorite coffee shop Urban Bean, went for a walk in the park, the pet store to get him some bones, the bookstore and then Starbucks for his good 'ole pup cup! I posted a picture on my instagram story so if you want to see him devour a small cup of whip cream, feel free to look. I've been listening to Bossy Pants by Tina Fey all day on audiobook and enjoying it more as it goes on. Later in the day, I decided to get ice cream with some friends but that's about it. I'm exhausted from being out all morning and waking up at 6am. It was lovely to wake up so early and be able to take a walk near the water at the park. I might have to do it more often! Speaking of lovely things, I also received an email about an exciting review I'll have posted in September so stay tuned for that. All is good. I'll be on my way to go to sleep soon and listen to my audiobook for the rest of the night.

For any reading updates, check out my Goodreads and add me on there! I'd love to chat about books whether it's here in the comments or on Goodreads.

My username is @uponthepages! Just like everything else. :-)

DAILY UPDATE ➳ i thrifted a really rare Miss Peregrines copy!

August 14th, 2018

I've noticed that all of my daily update posts are written after 9pm and posted around 10pm at night. Oops. Anyway, good evening! I hope you all had a good day. Yesterday, I worked on a bunch of blog and instagram stuff so I hope you're enjoying it so far. If not, be sure to check out my instagram to see what I've been up to.
I didn't do much work today because I was tired and didn't get a head start this morning. I ended up going to Goodwill and I thrifted a bunch of cute stuff for my closet. I also found an incredibly rare copy of Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children which I'll be showing on my instagram later this week. It's the National Book Day copy that they made only ten copies of for an event. Somehow, it ended up in my local Goodwill and I immediately grabbed it. It was so cool to find but I feel like someone who loves the series deserves to have it more. I might end up giving it away, who knows. As for right now, I'm just chilling in my silk pajamas I got from my grandma and listening to french music. If you didn't know, I'm currently learning french because it's the second language to the country I call my second home. 🇨🇦
My reading has consisted of two books today: Bossy Pants by Tina Fey and The Hating Game by Sally Thorne. I think listening to The Hating Game is kinda strange and I might drop the audiobook for the ebook or physical copy but who knows. I'll settle for what I've got for now. I plan to just hang out on Tumblr and Instagram for the rest of the night while listening to an Audiobook or french music. I hope whatever you're planning to do is just as relaxing.

xoxo

DAILY UPDATE ➳ no job but still working

August 13th, 2018

good evening! i spent a lot of my time today cleaning and working on my blog and instagram. i was photoshopping templates, planning out blog ideas, etc. as much as i love blogging and writing, it's still work. it may be work i genuinely love but it doesn't change the fact it's a lot of work. from being creative with ideas and then putting them all together until i love them, it's a lot. i'm quite tired already from the cleaning i did previously but it's okay. i got a smoothie today which was lovely!
i posted a bunch of my templates to instagram already. while i'm not in the home office anymore, i'm still working on instagram posts and blog posts. it's never ending. it was nice to separate myself from my usual space and work today though. if you visit my instagram today (@uponthepages), you can see all my work from earlier on my story. i'm going to work on posts tomorrow but other than that, i'm not doing much tonight.
As for my reading, I'm still listening to Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard: Hammer of Thor but I also started another audiobook. I find it easier to relax and focus whenever i'm listening to nonfiction so I picked up Bossy Pants by Tina Fey. I'm enjoying it so far. :-)

What are your plans for today? I'd love to know.
